Colusa Subreach Recreation Access Plan and Colusa Sacramento River State Recreation Area Master Plan

Colusa, CA

Master planning and environmental services for the Sacramento River Colusa Subreach and Ward Tract/Colusa Sacramento River State Recreation Area (CSRSRA).  CSRSRA was planned for a significant expansion, adding the Ward Tract, creating a unique recreational and riparian habitat restoration opportunity within easy reach of local and regional residents.  Planning for the Subreach included 13 tracts of land along 20 miles of river, providing additional areas for recreation, river access, restoration, and riparian habitat conservation.

Local stakeholders initially expressed mixed interest in this opportunity, with private landholders and others in the Subreach expressing strong concern regarding the effects of adjacent conservation and/or recreation lands on local agricultural practices, including pest issues, endangered species, regulatory issues, trespass, and vandalism. Resulting from an in-depth community-based master planning process concerns were incorporated into the final plan.  Consensus was reached for the recreation and natural resource uses on the lands, the planned amenities for the CSRSRA are now held in high esteem by residents, businesses, and governments in the region.

Design and planning services included: community and stakeholder outreach, vision and programming, site master planning and CEQA Permitting services. \
